  • You must be able to swim comfortably.
  • The SCUBA Diver certification is open to anyone 15 years or older.

Course Content

The RAID Scuba Diver program was designed to accommodate those who are short on time and can’t complete the full Open Water 20 course. The Scuba Diver program is derived from the RAID Open Water 20 course and provides you with basic knowledge and the full experience of scuba diving and the underwater World.

  • Online e-learning or mobile APP academic presentations, quizzes, exam.
  • Complete the skill requirements as specified by the specific training manual.

Before any Open Water diving the student shall effectively show proof of, or demonstrate, to a scuba instructor:

  • A ten-minute survival swim/float without the use of mask, fins, snorkel, or other swimming aids;
  • Distance swimming capability by one of the two following methods:
  • Swim 200m without the use of mask, fins, snorkel, or other swimming aids. OR
  • Swim 300m using mask, fins and snorkel without other swimming aids.

If conditions warrant, students may wear a diving suit provided they are weighted for neutral buoyancy.

Complete the course over a minimum of two days and totaling a minimum of:

  • 1 hour logged underwater in Open Water.
  • 2 Open Water dives.

Depth Limitation : 12 Metres / 40 Feet

Upon completion of the RAID Scuba Diver program, you will receive an electronic certification indicating your completion of the course. This will allow you to dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters /40 feet with a dive professional across many parts of the world. How Do I Get My Certification?

To earn your RAID Junior Open Water Diver certification, you need to read the manuals for each section and complete the quizzes. Once you have passed all the quizzes, you can proceed to the exam. It is important to select and contact a RAID Dive Centre and arrange for your practical in-water training.

They will arrange your class and in-water sessions and help you with equipment advice or purchases. The quizzes and exam are “open book”. This means you are required to read the manuals and then, if needed, research the manual to find the correct answers.

Prerequisites

  • The minimum age for this course is 11 to 12 years old.
  • Divers younger than this can participate in the RAID Cadet Open Water Diver program.

You will be required to a complete some mandatory paperwork which consists of a dive medical questionnaire, a liability release, and a safe diving practices form. If there are any potential medical issues, you will need to complete a medical form signed by a licensed physician prior to participating in any in-water sessions.  

  • You must be able to swim, as you will be required to swim a distance of 200 meters / 200 yards (no time limit) and tread water for 10 minutes.
Course Structure

Together with your instructor, you will be guided through the following:

  • A review of all your mandatory paperwork.
  • Academic knowledge vital to this program including a review of your quizzes and exam.
