You’ve caught the diving bug, and you’re contemplating your next specialty course, or perhaps you’ve recently earned your open water qualification and are eager to deepen your knowledge of the underwater world. Well, the answer to those inquiries and more lies in the EXPLORER 30 program.
EXPLORER 30 is an exciting and enjoyable program that prioritizes practical diving experience over extensive academics. As an EXPLORER 30 student, you’ll embark on five dives, allowing you ample time to relish your underwater journey while honing your skills in key areas of diving.
This course includes three core dives: Deep (with an optional Trimix component), Navigation, and Buoyancy. Additionally, you’ll select two elective dives from a list of twelve possibilities. Each of these dives is meticulously crafted to build upon the knowledge and skills acquired during your RAID Open Water 20 course. For instance, the buoyancy dive, in particular, helps divers refine a skill that distinguishes them and provides a level of competence and comfort in the water that usually takes traditionally-trained divers many dives to attain.
The RAID Explorer 30 program serves as the ideal stepping stone for advancing your diving education, with future plans to pursue even more advanced training.
To earn your Explorer 30 certification, you need to read the manuals for each section and complete the quizzes. Once you have passed all the quizzes, you can proceed to the exam. It is important to select and contact a RAID Dive Centre and arrange for your practical in-water training. They will arrange your class and in-water sessions and help you with equipment advice or purchases.
You will be required to a complete some mandatory paperwork which consists of a dive medical questionnaire, a liability release, and a safe diving practices form. If there are any potential medical issues, you will need to complete a medical form signed by a licensed physician prior to participating in any in-water sessions. Once you have registered with RAID, you can access all the required paperwork online in Your Profile.
Together with your instructor, you will be guided through the following:
During the RAID Explorer 30 program, you will have the chance to try out five different specialty taster dives, which will include the following:
Later, you can choose to complete all or just a few of your selected specialties through a Specialty Course by completing the remaining dives and finishing all academic requirements.
Once certified as an Explorer 30 diver, you will be able to dive in an environment similar or better to that which you were certified in, with a buddy, to a maximum of 30 meters / 100 feet.
